The Crocs Go On

What I found is that I needed to give my brain some kind of signal—a switch—that says, It’s time for movement. It’s time for action.

For some people, that might mean changing clothes or brushing their hair.
For me? It’s putting on my Crocs.

Not fancy shoes. Not workout gear.
Just those worn, easy, ready-to-go things by the door.
They tell my body: we’re in motion now.

Why Crocs Work for Me

Now, you might say, “Oh my gosh, but I don’t wear shoes in the house!”
And you know what? I get it.

That’s exactly why I like Crocs.

Because I have two pairs.
One for outside.
And one that never leaves the house.

“My house Crocs are sacred. They don’t touch the street—they touch the ritual.”

My “house Crocs” don’t touch the store, the sidewalk, or the porch.
They’re part of my rhythm.
When I put them on, it’s like my body knows—we’re working now.

Utility Meets Ritual

And here’s the thing—
If I need to leave the house in a hurry, I can.

Even though these are my inside Crocs, they’re still shoes.
They’re on my feet. I’m not barefoot, flailing, scrambling for slippers.

And that’s why I love them.

They’re rubber.
They’re washable.
You can rinse them under the faucet or hit them with a magic eraser if you really need to.

So no, it’s not like you’re tracking mud through your sanctuary.
You’re not dragging the whole world in behind you.

You’re just giving your body a signal.
You’re just letting your feet know—we’re in motion now.

Ritual Doesn’t Mean Rigid

You might be thinking, “But I’m in my house… I want to relax. I don’t want shoes on all day.”

And I get that.
I don’t keep them on the whole time either.

When I sit down in my chair—my reset space—the Crocs come off.
That’s part of the ritual too.

But the moment I get up?
The Crocs go back on.

It’s Not About the Shoes

It’s about the signal—to my body, to my brain: get up, get moving.

And maybe for you, it’s not Crocs.
Maybe it’s a certain pair of socks.
Maybe it’s tying your hair up.
Maybe it’s putting on a cardigan that feels like a work robe.

No matter what that symbol is for you…

Honor it.
Let it be your threshold ritual—
the thing that tells your whole system:
I’m no longer in rest. I’m in rhythm now.

You don’t need motivation.
You don’t need a perfect plan.
You just need a signal.

For me, it’s Crocs.
For you, it might be something else.

But whatever it is—
let it carry you from stillness to motion.
From “I should” to “I’m doing.”

Because it’s never really about the shoes.
It’s about showing up.
